Feasts of Santo António & São João  
1st June – 30th June 2016

With a whiff of summer in the air, the Festivities of Lisbon and Porto offer a welter of entertainment activities that will invade Lisbon and Porto’s oldest neighborhoods, luring lure thousands of people into the streets.

Santo António, highly respected and worshipped in Lisbon and treated as a true patron of the city, sets the mood for the festivities that reach their highpoint on the evening of June 12, with the parade of popular marches along Avenida da Liberdade. On the afternoon of June 13, a procession in homage to the popular Saint - who is believed to foster marriages - winds its way through the streets around the Sé cathedral and provides a special religious flavor to the festivities.

The feasts of São João, of pagan origin and associated with the celebration of the summer solstice, are marked by dancing, eating and fireworks.
Celebrate the feasts of São João, the most revered saint of Oporto, held on the night of 23rd of June.
Evenings are animated by traditional festivities with lots of music and dance to the rhythm of popular songs. Decorated with colored globes and garlands, the city’s streets are invaded by the smell of roasted sardines and sweet basil accompanied by paper carnations and paintings that allude to the Saints.

June is the main month of these festivities, but they also extend throughout the summer, including a wide variety of events such as fado, jazz and other musical performances, fado in the city’s trams, cinema and theatre festivals, sports events and exhibitions.

 

NOS Alive
7, 8 and 9th July 2016

NOS Alive, formerly Optimus Alive, is the leading music festival in Portugal and has caught the rest of the world's attention due to a single combination of an eclectic line up, warm weather and unique coastline location.

NOS Alive takes place in the magnificent city of Lisbon with its wonderful sunny weather.

And here, there's so much you can do before going to the festival. The site is 10 minutes away from the city Centre, which allows you to enjoy Lisbon's historical landmarks and bustling nightlife. You can experience as well the world famous and amazing Portuguese food. Being a coastline city, you can enjoy some time at the beach. Surf is one of the favorite sport activities you can enjoy before getting to the festival site. 

Ticket prices are appealing, cheaper than the major festivals in Europe considering a world class line up and a comfortable atmosphere. 
NOS Alive is referred as one of the best summer music festivals in Europe by international press such as The Guardian, Times, Clash, Mixmag and NME. 
This year, the fantastic lineup includes Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Pixies, The Chemical Brothers, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, Tame Impala and many more.

 

Super Bock Super Rock
14, 15 and 16th July 2016

The Super Bock Super Rock is a summer music festival held annually.
Organized since 1995, it is currently one of the most important Portuguese festivals.
It began to be realized at the Gare Maritima de Alcantara in Lisbon.

Between 2010 and 2014, it was held at Meco, Sesimbra, which gave the city festival a new image, more relaxed, near the beach.
In 2015 the festival returned to Lisbon, to the Park of Nations where it will be held this year.
This year, the lineup includes Kendrick Lamar, Massive Attack & Young Fathers, Iggy Pop, The National, Disclosure, Bloc Party, among others.

 

Medieval Market 
16th July – 2nd August 2016

It is a medieval environment where visitors travel back in time … taverns, artisans and merchants coming from the 4 corners of Portugal are the delight of the guests.

Surrounded by its high town walls, Óbidos is the ideal scenario for hundreds of extras and actors, fully dressed in medieval costumes, who will animate the town’s streets, as they portray noblemen, beggars, mule-drivers, jugglers, musicians, jesters and dancers. From jousting tournaments to medieval dinners, you will have the full experience of how it was to live in the medieval era.
