Rajasthan - The Incredible state of India
A desert Safari to meet the Indigenous Desert Tribes around Jodhpur
This off-roading takes you for desert adventure of a lifetime across the Thar Desert which surrounds Jodhpur. You are driven (or if you like, you can also drive) into the Thar Desert on the outskirts of Jodhpur where you get to witness a different side of India that is rarely seen – the rural, pure, simple village life and the wildlife and birdlife of this region. This is a unique experience which allows you to access villages and settlements where hardly any other vehicles, let alone visitors, can go.
The experience is not just about the destination, but also the journey, a journey in which you traverse the countryside on dirt tracks, camel tracks, through dry river beds and even make our own tracks if necessary.
Depending on the route chosen, you will visit villages and local schools, be welcomed into local houses and see a different way of life that still remains, it is harsh but the people are happy and it is amazing to see how they have adapted to life in the desert, both in their ingenious forms of water storage, food storage but also natural air-conditioning.
You will drive past herds of Blue Bull, the largest member of the deer family, and black buck as well as camel, you will see food being cooked on open fireplaces, children playing and women chattering at the village well. The one certain thing that will be consistent, is the smiling faces of all the people you will encounter throughout the day.
Jaipur Organic farm
live cooking experience with a local family in their home in Jaipur
This is a wonderful farm visit experience on the outskirts of Jaipur. Three farms are combined and produce organic vegetables to provide to hotels in Jaipur.
The farm is located at Ramgarh, adjacent to the Ramgarh Lodge, a 45-minute drive from Jaipur.
Participants will visit the farm and be taken on a tour of all the produce, have the different vegetables explained to them (many of the vegetables grown here are not available overseas), they can wonder around the farm, interact with the people working there and pluck their own vegetables.
They will see where the vegetables are sorted and then proceed to the farm next door where they can see the vegetables they have picked being made into a traditional Rajasthani dish.
Lunch will then be served, utilizing the foods they have picked and cooked and then the clients will return to Jaipur.
