Emirates Update...

October 2016

Today Dubai is known for pushing the limits when it comes to architectural feats. They've already created indoor ski slope, built the tallest building, and are home to floating villas. Every year - or even almost every month - Dubai has a new addition to Guinness World Record book.

IMG Worlds of Adventure

World's largest indoor theme park, IMG Worlds of Adventure, finally opened its doors to the public on August 31st, 2016.

The project is the first international mega-themed park to open in Dubai and will redefine the modern entertainment experience with its unprecedented size and offering.

Spanning 139,354 meters squared - equivalent to 28 football fields -  IMG Worlds of Adventure is the first global theme park to feature international brands Marvel and Cartoon Network, in addition to two proprietary brands, IMG Boulevard and Lost Valley - Dinosaur Adventure.

Providing a truly unforgettable and immersive experience, IMG Worlds of Adventure includes a unique array of roller coasters and attractions, complemented by 28 original food and beverage (F&B) offerings and 25 retail outlets.

Dubai Opera opened on August 31st

Dubai Opera is attempting to rival the famous Sydney Opera House, with 2,000 seats, an elegantly designed marble interior boasting a dramatic multi-story 11,000-pound glass chandelier, and by hosting talent like the prestigious tenor Plácido Domingo.

But perhaps even more striking than the glamorous décor is the building itself which was inspired by the dhow, the traditional ship found in the Persian Gulf. Atkins architects, who also created the Burj Al Arab, the Crescent in Baku, and the China Huraong Tower, were behind the design. Similar to the Australian landmark, famous for its sail-like design, the Dubai performance center will carry a nautical theme as well.

Domingo's was one of 200 performances set to take place in the first season, but only 75 have been announced. You can check all set performance on www.dubaiopera.com

Dubai Hotel Will Have the Middle East's First Rainforest

ZAS Architects are currently working on construction at The Rosemont Hotel and Residence Dubai, which in addition to its 448-room hotel with two skyscraper towers and entertainment areas, will feature a 75,000-square-foot manmade outdoor rainforest complete with a beach, stream, and trees.

By 2018, visitors should be able to get a fully immersive experience by seeing the flora and fauna from the ground of the rainforest all the way to the canopy-as well as getting misted by the "sensory rain system," which will simulate "the sensation of being surrounded by rainfall without actually getting wet."

Expo 2020 UAE Pavilion Unveiled

Another day, and another exciting new building in Dubai.
The architect Santiago CalatravaValls has been appointed to design the falcon-inspired UAE Pavilion building for Dubai World Expo 2020. Located at Al Wasl Plaza, this design was approved by a jury of representatives from The National Media Council (NMC).

The UAE Pavilion will be in the center of the 200-hectare exhibition zone and will house an auditorium, food and beverage outlets, VIP lounges, and numerous exhibition areas. The design of this building is inspired by a falcon in flight and is deemed to echo the powerful spirit of the UAE.
